Kiran

Short film | UK | 9 mins

A British South Asian woman becomes the full-time carer for her mother with dementia, as cultural expectation and emotional exhaustion erode her sense of self.

Developed from in-depth conversations with South Asian families, Kiran explored the unseen labour of care within a community often underrepresented in mainstream narratives. The film centres the daughter’s experience, keeping her mother largely unseen, allowing absence and reptition to shape the emotional arcs.
